Ladies & Gentlemen,
We were very disturbed to hear about your plans to increase the rent of Fort van Sjakoo from f 580 to f 5.100 per month, which, as you are well aware, amounts to an eviction order.
No doubt there are seemingly good short term financial motives for doing this but in the long term such actions can only damage Amsterdam's reputation as a progressive city that provides a tolerant environment for dissenting social and political viewpoints. We imagine that Amsterdam and Amsterdammers are proud of their international renown as an open city and no doubt they have fared well, also in financial terms, by it. It would be a shame if Amsterdam's character were changed by people who, "know the price of everything and the value of nothing".
We strongly recommend you to reverse your decision, for the good of the city and everyone who lives here.
With Kind Regards,
