In 1892, Alexander Berkman tried to assassinate Henry Clay Frick for the latter’s role in violently suppressing the Homestead Steel Strike. Berkman’s attempt was unsuccessful. Berkman spent the next fourteen years in Pennsylvania’s Western Penitentiary.
