The No-Nonsense Guide to Indigenous Peoples

9.80

An introduction to the problems which face indigenous peoples, however, it’s main fault is it’s basic premise. Grouping all indigenous peoples together, despite vast differences between situations and cultures, results in a mish mash of information, with little context. Due to its small size and structure the book cannot go into much depth, although the author does have more knowledge of certain African cultures she has worked with (it is a pity that the author is not ‘indigenous’ herself). Additionally the author is sometimes guilty of romanticizing indiginous peoples. Nonetheless this book may be interesting to someone with little knowledge of indigenous issues.
