Journey of a Speechless Man (A5 zine)

Joseph Kapita Anyangya unrolls a story that begins when he leaves the Democratic Republic of the Congo at age 2. But looked at another way, the story begins centuries earlier, when the violent colonization of Central Africa set in motion the events that would lead to Kapita Anyangya having to leave his home. Defying simplistic narratives about immigration and refugeeship, this thoughtful memoir explores topics including anti-Black racism in Canada, the exploitation of refugees’ hopes, and solidarity between refugees and First Nations people.
