Wij kinderen van Station Amstel
€22.00
A photo book on the Amsterdam Subway Graffiti. Most pictures in this book are taken in the period 1990-1993. At that time the Amsterdam Metro was totally covered with graffiti. When the NYC subways slowly were cleaned, Amsterdam Graffiti boomed. Ofcourse this being a much smaller subway system than NYC. But with a variety and quality that was remarkable and gave Amsterdam worldwide fame. The Graffiti Art in Amsterdam caused a unique, beautiful, freedom loving and anarchist vibe that was being loved by many all over the world. This small portrait of a bombed subway system is most of all a personal, simple documentation of a 11-14 year old kid loving graffiti writing/art and hanging around the trainstations a lot. Amstel Station was simply the best place to spot the painted subway cars. The title is respectively related to the famous book/movie about Cristiane F. ‘Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo’. Graffiti is a passion but can also be an addiction. We ‘addicts’ often met at the platforms,in the tunnels and at the Stations, making both of us ’trainspotters’. Them looking for another fix or heroin shot. We to get a good (photo) shot of an adrealine rushed Graffiti piece on the Metro. The book also shows photos of the Stations, the people there, including some other cities in Europe.
