The story of one of the Mohawk fighters of the “Oka crisis” shot by Canadian police. Joe David is a Kanehsatake Mohawk who participated as a Warrior in the Oka Crisis in 1990. In June of 1999, Joe was the victim of police brutality. He was shot twice by the Kanehsatake Mohawk Police after a tense twelve-hour standoff. This pamphlet will examine not only the details of the police operation that lead to Joe’s shooting, but also the methods by which Canada continues to colonize First Nations today”.
