Controversial Outsiders

15.85

The book deals with the way Dutch, German and Flemish newspapers dealt with
the far-right in past 20 years. In a context of increasing popularity of far-right parties and anti-immigrant sentiments this is a highly relevant question. Seperate chapters deal with the developments in each of the three national contexts. In the last chapter a comparison is made between the three contexts and shows that in all three countries the far right is portrayed as controversial outsiders. However, in German newspapers this image is very straight forward and narrow, while it is increasingly less in Belgium and the Netherlands.
