Haymarket

A historically faithful novel, based on the lives of the anarchist labor organizer Albert Parsons (the best known of the 8 anarchists railroaded and killed by the state following the fateful demonstration in Haymarket Square in Chicago, 1886), and Lucy Gonzalez, the outspoken black woman with whom he fell in love. The novel tells the story of their lives together, of their growing political involvement, of their colorful circle of ‘co-conspirators’, and of the events culminating in bloodshed and martyrdom.
